Asking for a friend. Can tradelines help improve your credit score when you’re recovering from a bankruptcy?

Tradelines can certainly benefit individuals with bankruptcies on their credit reports, as long as there are no other negatives such as post bankruptcy collections, charge-offs, and late payments within the past six months showing up on the credit report.

Also, keep in mind that even though tradelines can boost the credit, doesn’t mean that lender rules regarding bankruptcies will change. For example, a bank may still require two years of time after a bankruptcy is discharged in order to qualify for a loan.

Best of luck!
