I want to boost my credit score – are tradelines right for me?

I want to see an improvement in my credit score (I’m upper 700’s now). Most of my friends have scores in the 800’s. Could tradelines help me get to their level? Thank you.

Ty, stop. Don’t waste money. With an upper 700 credit score, you’re likely to get approved in terms of credit for anything. Also, you’re likely to get the best rates on whatever you’re applying for. Buying tradelines would be a total waste of money. I hope you don’t receive this is me being negative, I’m just trying to save you money because I know someone else would be happy to take it from you and not provide any service.

So, it is possible that adding piggybacking on a seasoned authorized user tradeline could benefit your scores. I think the better question to be asking here is Do I need to add tradelines if I already have an upper 700 credit score?

Now I’m not a lender, and I work directly with a lot of lenders. Based upon the conversations that I’ve had with numerous lenders for almost a decade, once you are getting into the 770+ range of scores, the quality of lending doesn’t really change. This brings up a new question…What do I need an 800+ credit score for?

So, if you don’t need an 800+ credit score, do you really need tradelines (especially if you are already in the upper 700’s)?

These are questions you need to be asking yourself before considering hiring someone to enhance your credit. Now it is certainly possible that there is room for improvement on your already great scores (sometimes it as simple as paying something down). The easiest way to figure this out is to have a conversation with an expert. If you want to have an honest conversation with a tradeline expert let me know.

When you are ready to realize your credit potential reach out to me!

Mike,

I have no financial goal in mind, I just want to increase my score to match my friends. Should I really not invest in a better credit score? Isn’t it better to have an 800+ credit score than a 770? Thanks!

on June 12, 2019

No. Suppose you only need a 720 credit score to be approved for the best possible rates and terms. If you had a 721 credit score, your credit score is not any better than before. Suppose you had a 780 credit score, your credit score is not any better than before. Suppose you had a 9522 credit score (which doesn’t exist), your credit score would not be better than before.

It’s like a tangent to a parabola. Does it ever become zero? Who cares? At some point, the number is so small it just doesn’t make a difference in reality.

If you really want to increase your credit score for the purpose of competing with your friends, I’m sure there’s other ways you can do it without wasting your money. I bet you can pay down some balances we’re open new accounts, Etc.

Call and have Raj or Mike evaluate some of those options and rather than paying him for his service just give him a review online.

Ty,

First of all, congrats on having a killer credit score! Secondly – I’m right there with you. I’ve always been the type of guy who wants to see that 800 number on my credit reports; however, over time, I’ve come to realize that the there isn’t any more value in the 800s than the upper 700s. I’m not getting better offers since I reached the 800 threshold and nothing has changed. For me, it almost feels like a vanity license plate on a car at this point. I thought it was great when I first got it, but now I forget about it because it hasn’t made a difference in anything I do.

Don’t worry, you’re already in the outstanding credit club and you’ve earned it. If you’re going to spend money to impress your friends, pick up their dinner tab the next time you’re together!

All the best!

Where are you getting your credit score?

If online, many websites like to embellish on your credit score putting it higher than what it really is to get you excited to click on their advertisements.

Also, online scores factor in closed accounts into average age and this can artificially put your scores online higher than your real score with a lender.

With all that in mind, if you already have aged credit cards on your report with great limits and low balances, you will not need trade lines in most cases.

To figure this out together, feel free to reach out to me any time!

Good point, Raj. The score may be higher or lower then he thinks. A credit report analysis is necessary.

Hey, Ty!!! I have 805 score…Just listen to me: Pay all bills on time. Don’t have a high balance on credit cards, pay them off in full if you do. Don’t have too many credit cards. Of course, no delinquencies of any type. Don’t overextend yourself financially.
